common cold

The common cold is a common ailment, having been with us for millions of years. It is caused by an opportunist virus, often attacking a body that is under stress or run down. This is usually a none-too-subtle hint from the body that we need to slow down and rest, and the primary response of course should be just that.

Catching the cold gives the body a chance to discharge waste matter, with mucuous being a typical side product produced. Attention to the diet is advisable in this instance, with an increase in Vitamin C being imperative to boost the immune system. The methods below should also assist in the road to recovery.

Method 1 - Steam Inhalation

Blend:

  • Clove (1 drop)
  • Lavender (1 drop)
  • Thyme (1 drop)

Mix the drops of oil into a bowl full of hot water. Placing a towel over your head, position your face around 25cms away from the water, breathing in deeply through the nose, for around 60 seconds. Keep your eyes closed throughout.

Method 2 - Tissue

Drop the oils above onto a tissue, and carry with you throughout the day, inhaling from it regularly.

Method 3 - Chest Massage

Blend in one teaspoon of grapeseed oil:

With the patient in a relaxed state, massage around the chest, neck and sinus area.
