fennel

Fennel Oil (foeniculum vulgare) is produced from the crushed seeds of the fennel herb, which is indigenous to the mediterranean coast and also grows throughout Europe, India, Japan and North America. Its aroma is sweet, pungent and aniseed-like.

This oil has long been valued for its carmenative, diuretic and tonic properties. Its principle sphere of action is on the digestive system - am effective anti-spasmodic of gastric and intestinal smooth muscle, the oil is used to relieve abdominal indigestion, bloating, nausea, belching and flatulence. It may be used to 'move the bowel' in cases of constipation.

Fennel is a mild diuretic and lymphatic decongestant, helping to rid the body of stagnant fluids and fats. It may also be used for water retention, cellulite and obesity, both as an essential oil and a herbal tea.
