cypress

Cypress (cupressus sempervirens) is obtained from the leaves and twigs of the cypress evergreen conifer, native to Southern Europe and also common through North America and North Africa. Its aroma is fresh, sweet, balsamic and slightly citrus.

The principal action of the oil is to enliven and regulate the flow of blood. Part of this action depends upon its restorative, toning effect on the veins, a by-product of its overall astringent quality. Thus is assists conditions such as varicose veins and haemorrhoids.

It's astringent nature also helps in cases of extreme perspiration, for example sweaty feet. Its harmonising effect on the flow of blood assists with menstrual problems like dysmenorrhoea (menstrual pain) and menorrhagia (excessive menstrual bleeding)

psychological benefits

Cypress is a stabilising oil that encourages the process of 'taking in and letting go.' The subtle action helps us to accept and cope with change of both an inner and outer nature.
