Cedarwood (cedrus atlantica) Oil is usually produced by distillation of wood from the Atlas Cedar tree originating in North America. It's aroma is woody, sweet, balsamic and slightly camphoraceous.

As an essential oil cedarwood is fortifying and strengthening. A powerful tonic of the body's energy, tonifying both the kidneys and spleen-pancreas, it may be used for general lethargy, nervous debility, lower backache and poor concentration. It's decongesting ability encourages lymphatic drainage, and stimulates the breakdown of fats. Mildly diuretic, it may be used for cellulite and oedema.

As an astringent remedy that helps to drain cold dampness, cedarwood oil may be used for abdominal distention accompanied with recurrent diarrheoa. It's decongestant nature and anti-infectious properties make it helpful for respiratory infections.

Lastly, the anti-seborrhoeic qualities can improve oily skin, acne, dandruff and soborrhoea of the scalp.
